Welcome to Ramesh Nath Research Group

Understanding ground states in interacting quantum systems is an important subject of current condensed matter physics. Unconventional superconductivity, ordering of electronic charge, orbital, and multipoles in transition metal and rare-earth compounds, spin liquid and magnetization plateau states in frustrated magnets are examples that have attracted strong recent interest. Such systems often have competing interactions which stabilize different states with distinct symmetries. Experimental realization of such effects is a real challenge.

The goal of our group is to discover new materials based on transition metal and rare-earth ions and investigate their structural, electronic, magnetic, thermal, and dynamical properties using various experimental tools under extreme conditions i.e. at high and low temperatures, under high magnetic field, and under high pressure.
