Dr. Vinesh Vijayan is a Professor in the School of Chemistry at IISER Thiruvananthapuram. He did his early education in Kerala and went on to do his graduation from IIT Madras in 2002. He later completed his PhD at the Max Planck Institute of Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, Germany, in the field of biomolecular NMR. Following his PhD, he completed two post-docs in solid-state NMR in a different group in Göttingen.
In 2011, Dr. Vijayan joined IISER Thiruvananthapuram as an Assistant Professor and has since been promoted to full Professor. His research focuses on protein structural studies using nuclear magnetic resonance, with particular emphasis on proteins involved in memory degeneration and retention. His group also pursues projects in protein engineering and de novo protein design.
